MCYS Open Day 2023 – MARTHA COVE YACHT SQUADRON

The weather was not the friendliest for the 2023 MCYS Open Day, with the Sail Past needing to be cancelled for members’ safety. We had very good interest this year from owners both sail and power which bodes well for next year!

First off I would like to start with some well-deserved THANK YOUs:

Thank you to the Social Committee

The social committee led by VC Michelle Brien and ably assisted by Kathleen Steele, Vivien Carroll, Marilyn Wilson and Lizzy Shanley. Lizzy as the MCYS Secretary, has completed a power of work over this 4 months since taking office – I know the amount of work that goes into the Secretary role doing that over 2 clubs and we are very lucky to have Lizzy in the Secretary role.

As inaugural Commodore, John took the helm of MCYS from inception and has done an outstanding job leading the club and still does today in his role as RCS and leading our Clubhouse development initiative.

We have a very hard-working Social Committee as I’ve mentioned but the General Committee has also been outstanding this year

Rear Commodore Power – Geoff Steele and his subcommittee have done a power of work and bringing the Power on par with Sail and Social which is great to see
Pam Hall – Treasurer – nearly all members had renewed their membership within 30 days this year and the accounts are ship shape
Bill Wilson – Merchandise – Bill has made our merchandise top shelf for many years and it represents our club as it’s quality and professional
Clare Murphy & Rex Over for bringing their commercial expertise to our GC
