MCYS BAY TRAIL WALK & BBQ (last Saturday of each month) – everyone welcome!

Last month’s walk & bbq was postponed due to bad weather – so we’ve now rescheduled and hope you can join us!

Saturday 28th May – Portsea Pier to the Point Nepean Quarantine Station.

We’re meeting at the Portsea Pier at 10am to walk to the Quarantine Station via the Police Point bushland reserve. This is an interesting area of historic buildings situated alongside Point Nepean National Park.

Bunurong people count the area as having significant cultural value and was used over successive generations for thousands of years.  The reserve provides a refuge for the Long-nosed bandicoots amongst other rare fauna. Moonah woodland and grassy calcareous swales make it idea habitat for these small marsupials.

It also has stunning views across the bay from the Police Point lookout and the Quarantine Station beach.

This event is suited for all members, families, and friends.

You can meet us at the Portsea Pier at 10am for the full walk (approx 3.5km one way) or meet us at the Police Point Bushland reserve car park which is about half way (shorter walk) or just meet us at the Quarantine Station for a BBQ brunch at around 11am.

We’ll be providing a light BBQ brunch so RSVP to social@mcys.com.au for catering.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
