Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) of the Martha Cove Yacht Squadron Inc. at 6.00pm on FRIDAY 9 September 2022 at Stella’s Dromana Hotel 151 Point Nepean Hotel, Dromana Victoria 3936 OR Via Zoom Conferencing if necessary, details to follow if required. (NB: This is presently scheduled as a “face to face” meeting to take place before our member’s get together and drinks and dinner however should COVID restrictions require, this AGM may alternatively be conducted Via Zoom at the same time)

  6. Election of  Secretary: (Flag Officers and Officers elected at the 2021 AGM serve a two-year term pursuant to MCYS Constitution 10.5.3). The current Secretary is filling a casual vacancy as acting Secretary and the position is open to be filled until the next AGM in 2023.

Secretary (Officer)

  1. Election of General Committee – Pursuant to the Constitution, the General Committee positions are open for election the current terms being due to expire at this AGM. Election up to Six General Committee Members (x6) including up to two Intermediate Members (x2).
  2. The Commodore will then call for expressions of interest for sub-committees:

                  · Social

                  · Power Boat

                  · Sailing

  1. General Business
  2. Meeting Close

Apologies for the previous Notice which incorrectly stated that our Treasurer was up for re-election. This was wrong as our Treasurer was elected for two years at last year’s (2021) AGM!


ELECTION OF GENERAL COMMITTEE AND SECRETARY

In accordance with the Constitution all current General Committee terms are due to end at the 2022 Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) to be held on FRIDAY 9 September 2022 and are accordingly declared vacant as at that time. The Officer positions of Secretary is also available for nomination, as presently we have an acting Secretary (Gareth Davies) who is also our Rear Commodore – Sail.

Elections are to be held for the following positions to be filled and NOMINATIONS ARE INVITED for the positions below with successful candidates to hold the position in accordance with the Constitution as indicated:

  1. Secretary (One year or until the 2023 AGM)
  2. Six General Committee Members (x6) including up to two Intermediate Members (x2) (Two years or until the 2024 AGM)

In accordance with the Constitution, Elections for positions to be filled at each AGM must take place on the SATURDAY before the AGM. This means that the elections take place this year on Saturday 3rd September 2022.

(NB: If there is only one nomination received in respect of a position during the nomination period then the nominated candidate shall be deemed elected unopposed for the position. If there are no nominations received, then at the AGM nominations may be called and filled from the floor. If there are more nominations than positions to fill, a ballot will be conducted in accordance with the Constitution.)

Please consider joing the General Committee to take part in the organisation of your club!

If admin is your forte, then please consider stepping up and nominating for the position of Secretary – you will get lots of help!


FOLLOWING THE AGM, we will have a presentation – 

“WEATHER 101” where you will learn about weather basics, how to read a weather map, resources available, and what to expect… is coming by looking at a weather map!


DINNER will follow at Stellas!
