Join us this Saturday 26th March for the next leg of the MCYS Bay Trail Walk – Sorrento to Portsea!
We’ll be leaving at 9.30am (so arrive about 9.25am) from the entrance to Sorrento Park, the Esplanade Sorrento (this is on the top of the hill, behind the Hotel Sorrento and beside the Police Station – see photos). Parking can be tricky in Sorrento, which is why we’re starting here as there’s free parking with no time limits (it’s also at the top of the hill, so one less hill in a walk that has a few!).
This walk is well worth doing, it’s close to 4km as we take in the Peninsula Bay Trail, Artists Trail and the Millionaire Walk – it takes a little longer than some of our other walks as there’s so much to see. We cover quite different terrain with sections of the walk through the gardens, others along Point Nepean Road, the beach and the trail along Millionaire’s walk. There are stairs from the beach back to the trail and few short hills along the way. For the return trip we will walk along Point Nepean Road (3.3km) – or you can catch the 788 bus back (Remember to bring your MIKI card and mask).
You’ll need to allow at least 1 hour for the Sorrento to Portsea leg. If you don’t feel like walking, you can meet us at Limani at 10.30. An alternate option: A few people have mentioned that they’d just like to do the “Millionaire’s Walk” part – this is relatively flat and very pleasant walk – and if you’ve never done it before it’s well worth it for the stunning views of the bay. You can park in Lentell Avenue and meet us at the lookout and seat at the end of the street, we should arrive there about 9.40am. You could then return to your car and drive to Portsea to meet us for coffee at 10.30am. Let me know if you’d like to just do this section, and I can give you the specific details – and then we’ll know to look out for you when we get there. Please RSVP via text to Michelle on 0433 59 6151 so I can book a table! Looking forward to seeing you there! Our Sponsors |
